Replace or repair your radiator?

Unsure about whether you need to replace or repair your radiator? Is your central heating system coming to the end of its lifespan?

Here's how you can answer those questions:

  1. Test the system yourself by turning the heating on and checking all radiators are heating correctly. The radiator should be very hot to touch, from top to bottom
  2. If any radiators are too cold or cold in places, bleed them and check for any other obvious signs of problems like cracks or small leaks
  3. If you are not comfortable bleeding the radiator yourself, call us. We'll arrange for an engineer to perform a full systems check. This can include bleeding any radiators as required.
  4. If you see any obvious signs of problems such as damaged pipes or blockages, call us on 0800 3899 463 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

What size of radiator do you need? Which material is best?

The size, depth, and material of a radiator will determine how much heat it will output. The output is measured in BTUs (British Thermal Units).

There are several factors which can affect how much heat you need for your room. These include the dimensions of the room, the windows, and the insulation.

The amount of heat required to efficiently heat your room will determine what size of radiator is best, and what materials would be suitable. Your budget will also be a factor – some materials are expensive to buy but will perform better over the years.
